Question for EpSA Philippines

How do I troubleshoot an epsa amber pro flat hair iron? It suddenly popped, smoke came out and a burning smell. Now I need to open and check my wife's flat iron. Do you have methods in troubleshooting the device. I think it is more than a year old, hence it couldn't be covered by its warranty.
