Carlos Superdrug

At the time of Carlos Super Drug’s conception in 1946, the man who was to give birth to and steer it through its first fourteen perilous years kept weighing his pluses and minuses. The drug retailing business in Lucena was then dominated by financially strong and better-located drug stores, some of which were even prewar vintage, and he knew that even mere survival shall be extremely difficult. What he saw on the liability side were unnerving: a still growing family of five children to feed, clothe and educate; his own lack of business experience; and only a measly P200 in savings to get started with.
