There is no doubt in my mind that the Sagip-Kapamilya Foundation is one of most respected charitable organization in the Philippines.

There are 2 end points to what Sagip-Kapamilya does: The start point are the Donors and the end point which are the Recipients, everything in between is what they do. Without one these 2, Sagip-Kapamilya will have no purpose. Although, Sagip-Kapamilya thank the donors (in general) in their TV broadcasts, they still must ensure that donors are kept informed not only of their donations being received, but how they are being used to help.

For a while I had been contemplating how I can extend help to the victims of Yolanda storm, and being a retired senior citizen living in Canada, I thought the best way is to make a financial contribution. Although Canada promised to match donations to Canadian charity for the victims of Yolanda, I decided to send my contribution to Sagip-Kapamilya via direct peso deposit into their account with Banco de Oro (Scout Albano branch).

I followed this up with 2 inquiry emails to a Ms. Dea Florentino of ABS-CBN, whom I was told oversee these donations. But up to this writing, sad to say, my inquiries remain unanswered.

My point is, in these times of chaos, where financial contributions are flying-in from all over the world, there must be some way to acknowledge the donation receipt. I cannot help but feel paranoid that my contribution has gone to the wrong hands, especially sending money to the Philippines which is notorious for corruption.

As a donor, I gave Php 32,600.00 ($800) from the bottom of my heart to help the victims, and I felt ignored without even a simple gesture of confirming my email and that my hard earned donation has been received (or not). Right now, I am not sure if my contribution reached the people they were intended to help.
