A unit of the University of the Philippines, Diliman, the National Hyrdraulic Research Center (NHRC) is under the umbrella of the College of Engineering - National Engineering Center (COE-NEC). It is the research arm of the water resources engineering faculty of the Department of Civil Engineering and other related fields.Established jointly in 1973 by the University of the Philippines and the UP Engineering Research and Development Foundation (UPERDFI), it is self-supporting in its own project operations without budgetary allocation from the University. Its projects are managed by the UPERDFI with fiscal autonomy from UPD.Currently headed by Director Leonardo Q.
